Why Kat’s soups are different

At Kat’s, “made from scratch” means more than heating up a pot. We make our broths in-house, build flavor slowly, and draw from both old-world Polish tradition and the kind of Pennsylvania comfort food people grew up with. Some soups are everyday favorites, some are seasonal, and some are small-batch specials—but every bowl is made the Kat’s way: real ingredients, real cooking, and real comfort.

  • Broth made in-house
  • Polish-Slavic classics
  • Slow-simmered flavor
  • PA comfort favorites

Delicious homemade cooking with Traditionally made Authentic Polish dishes as well as fun Americanized dishes (Kielbasa Mac&Cheese anyone?) This place is underrated for how good it was. Dishes are fairly priced as well from 15 to 30 dollars in 2026 which imo is really good.

I had a wonderful experience at Kats Cafe. The food was truly homemade and authentic, with flavors that stood out in every bite. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and carefully prepared, as if it was made with genuine care rather than rushed service. What really makes this place special is the warmth you feel in the food, it’s the kind of cooking where you can honestly “taste the love.” The dishes are simple but full of flavor, focusing on quality and heart rather than complexity. Overall, it’s a cozy and welcoming café that delivers consistently delicious, home-style meals. A great spot if you’re looking for comfort food that feels personal and made with pride.

The environment is super cute, they had little crocheted pierogis everywhere. We got the raspberry soda (which was delicious) and Kat herself ran out from the kitchen to read the note under the cap which was in Polish. All of the food was very clearly handmade and made with love. The blintz was so delicious, probably one of the best things I’ve eaten. Afterwards Kat came out and talked to us for a while and asked how we liked everything and was super nice. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend.

We had found Kat’s while googling for a place to eat. It is in a town named Minersville in Pennsylvania. You would never think of stopping there if you passed. My wife and I tried. This is a Polish restaurant. It didn’t look like a restaurant but the food was like my grandmother cooked. My wife started with the potato pancakes and I had the pierogi sampler. For dinner my wife had a chicken dish with mushrooms and I had pork chops in sauerkraut. Like I said earlier, it was like my grandmother used to make. Outrageous!! I HIGHLY recommend Kats Cafe. Kat herself came out and we talked for a few minutes about cooking. She’s a wonderful person. Please, if you’re near her place, stop in. You won’t regret it.

We tried Kat’s today for the first time. We shared the potato pancakes, borscht, pierogis and kielbasa platter. The food was very well prepared and definitely authentic. The portions were large and absolutely shareable! The staff were kind, very friendly and attentive. We greatly enjoyed our experience and we will definitely be back for a return visit!
