What is Wigilia?

Kat’s Christmas Eve Holy Supper is inspired by Wigilia, the traditional Polish Christmas Eve vigil meal shared by many Central and Eastern European families. At Kat’s, the experience brings guests together around a festive table filled with scratch-made, meatless holiday dishes, fish, soups, pierogies or other vegetarian specialties, desserts, natural fruit punch, and heartfelt conversation.

The meal begins in the spirit of the season, with grace, the sharing of the wafer (opłatek), and warm wishes for the year ahead. It is rooted in Polish Catholic and Slavic family traditions, but guests from all backgrounds are welcome to enjoy the food, hospitality, and meaning of the evening.

A Holiday Meal with Heritage and Heart
